The Handmade Artists Book: The Accordion Structure

In this day long class students will explore the accordion book structure. This book form is a favorite of photographers and other visual artists as the form lends to a narrative flow of a body of work. Two experienced bookbinders will provide instruction, demonstrations, and lectures on the accordion book structure. Our approach is to teach you from start to finish how to design, select materials and to make a book that furthers the narrative content of your work. This is a content-based class, and you will need to bring with you a cohesive and edited project. Photographs, prints, paintings, poetry...the sky is the limit!

This course is suitable for the beginner and for more experienced bookbinders. There is ample time for instruction and studio time.
