Hot Off The Presses! (Hand Set and Print our own 19th Century Newspaper)

06/28/2021 10:00 AM - 04:00 PM ET

Description

Frederick has a long tradition of newspapers, from the Hornet, to The Frederick Times (which our very own Johnny Carrera's grandparents edited not two blocks from FBAC in the 1950's), FBAC's very own paper, The Ephemeral! This Summer participants, 13 and up, will wear the hats of reporter, typesetter, designer and printer and learn the basics of letterpress; choose a beat, write an article, and make or choose images from our collection of cuts to illustrate your story, then print and distribute a free publication!

This is a free, casual experience for Members of FBAC that will allow for you to come and go as you need during the 2 week time period. Participants will be able to join us on the following days: June 28th, 29th, 30th, July 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th (please note that we will not be meeting on July 5th, because of the Holiday weekend) from 10am-4pm. We do ask that if you are working on the project you plan to come at least the 1st day of each week (June 28th and July 6th) so that the whole group can meet as a team and discuss the development of the paper. If you are interested in participating please email us at contact@frederickbookarts.org!
