Put the Pieces Together - Puzzle Prints

In this 2 session class, students can expect to create a composition utilizing repositionable or interlocking blocks. Prior to class, students will be sent images of various historic to modern representations of Puzzle prints, so they can get a head start on brainstorming ideas and printing out reference material for their print. Once in class, we will look at their ideas and discuss the best way to approach their print. In this class you will cover design and carving the first day, moving into printing and editioning the second day. 

Supply list:

• Pre-planned designs
• 2H to 2B graphite pencil and fine tip Sharpie or other marker
• Speedball Speedy Carve block at least 6x12in or battleship gray linoleum 12x12in
• Linoleum carving tools
• Brayer - 4in
• Small piece of plexi glass, mylar, acetate, or disposable palette to use as an inking station
• X-acto knife
• Baren or wooden spoon
• Relief printing ink
• Newsprint or copy paper for covering surfaces and test prints
• Strathmore 400 Series Printmaking Block Paper 11"x14" in or 4 sheets of Legion Stonehenge in color of your choice 22"x30" in
