Volvelles AKA Spinners Bookmark

Volvelles have a long history in bookbinding. Volvelles also known as spinners are a fun addition to art work or as a page in a book. Incorporate them in your books and art to create interaction with your viewer. In our class we will be making an interactive book mark that remembers which paragraph on the page you stopped; it will have two spinners and even a tiny book!

Supply list:

• 2-3 colors of cardstock
• Exacto knife
• Scissors
• Compass (or something small and traceable as a circle)
• Embroidery or DMC thread
• Small brads
• Glue stick
• Pencil 
• Pen
• Awl, if available
• Ink pad (optional) for accented edge
• Surface that can be cut and punched into

Ages 13+, younger children can participate with adult supervision.
