Learn the wonders of ink, water, and surface tension in this paper marbling workshop. Marbling is a technique that has been used for centuries to decorate paper and stationery. The workshop will provide students with a fundamental understanding of this beautiful and therapeutic art form. 

We will use non-toxic pigment inks and Suminagashi techniques to create a set of marbled paper note cards and envelopes. No experience necessary; ages 13 and up, younger may join with the help of an adult.

Supplies:

  • White or cream colored notecards and envelopes (acid free prefered)
  • Watercolor paper (optional)
  • Suminagashi inks
  • Paint pallet (optional, but will help aid in mixing inks)
  • Tooth picks
  • Paper towels
  • Foil disposable roasting pan approximately 12" wide x 18" long x 2" deep
  • Access to water or a sink nearby
